Farmers Insurance has returned to the Louisiana property and casualty market after a seven-year hiatus, the state’s insurance commissioner has confirmed.

The mutual insurance giant retreated from the state in the difficult local market following Hurricane Katrina, leaving only a small subsidiary, Foremost Insurance, writing business in the state after 2014.
