Kemper closes acquisition of non-standard auto insurer American Access

Kemper Corporation has closed its $370mn acquisition of American Access Casualty Company (AAC) and sister company Newins Insurance Agency Holdings, in a deal that expands the carrier’s footprint in Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Nevada and Texas.

AAC wrote $350.5mn in direct written premiums in 2020, according to data from SNL. The Downers Grove, Illinois, based insurer reported a combined ratio of just under 100% last year, statutory filings show.
