Oklahoma and Farmers settle for $25mn over unpaid earthquake claims

Officials in Oklahoma have negotiated a $25mn settlement on behalf of Farmers Insurance policyholders over the mutual’s denial of earthquake claims, which the state argued were handled poorly.

The news comes after research on a spate of earthquakes in the state in the early 2010s revealed a possible link with wastewater injection by oil and gas well operators, as reported by Oil & Gas Journal.
