Everest anticipates $260mn charge from Q1 natural catastrophes

Everest Re Group is expecting to take a pre-tax charge of about $260mn from natural catastrophe losses during the first quarter of the year.

In a market note on Monday, the carrier said Texas winter storms in February accounted for $250mn in claims, and flooding in New South Wales would cost Everest about $10mn in losses.
