The momentum for establishing workers’ compensation benefits for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) has grown, and it could accelerate even faster due to the pandemic, specifically for front-line responders, according to a report from the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI).

Mental health disorders are emerging as an increasingly important factor in workers’ comp, said the research brief, written by NCCI assistant actuary Bruce Spidell.
