Shares in Ryan Specialty Group jumped by 14% in the opening minutes of trading on early Thursday afternoon, climbing to $26.80 a share, before giving back some of its initial gains.

The wholesale broker’s shares were up by about 8% on the day in the early afternoon, changing hands at $27.81
