Attorneys for insurance companies, including Chubb’s Century Indemnity Co, that provided cover to the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) have said they have reached an “impasse” with the BSA and will make no further progress towards agreeing to finance a settlement, putting the onus on an upcoming court hearing in the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware to rule on the settlement.

A hearing has been set for July 29 to finalize details of the $850mn settlement agreement between the BSA and lawyers of near 60,000 victims of childhood sex abuse.
