Fairfax increases interest in Singapore Re from around 28% to 94%

Fairfax Financial Holdings has increased its stake in Singapore Reinsurance from 28.2% to 94% for $103mn and begun consolidating its assets, liabilities and results into Singapore REIT, a general property-casualty insurer with operations in South East Asia.

Prem Watsa, Fairfax founder, chairman and CEO, said the carrier expected to acquire the remaining 6% of the company it did not own and delist it from the Singapore Stock Exchange.
