United Insurance Holdings expects underwriting profit next year: CEO

United Insurance Holdings (UPC) CEO Dan Peed has predicted the Florida-based insurer will return to an underwriting profit in 2022, as the carrier scales back its personal lines exposure and raises rates.

The positive forecast followed the company’s report of a core pre-tax loss of $24.6mn, or $0.57 per share for Q2 2021, reversing a small gain of $8.8mn,
