A bankruptcy watchdog unit of the US Department of Justice (DoJ) moved to block the deal that Purdue Pharma reached earlier this month, court records showed.

The bankruptcy plan approved by a federal judge on September 1 generated controversy because it shielded members of the Sackler family from further opioid lawsuits.
