With a wave of InsurTech companies going public igniting a debate over whether the loss-making businesses can withstand the volatility and scrutiny of the public markets, Root CEO and co-founder Alex Timm said on Wednesday his company was “very happy” to make the leap.

Timm was speaking at the InsureTech Connect conference alongside Prashanth Gangu, the former head of Oliver Wyman’s financial services practice in North America, who is now a senior executive at Bermuda (re)insurer SiriusPoint.
