Ida was a large event but not an extreme outlier: RenRe’s O’Donnell

The historic level of loss from Hurricane Ida was not caused solely by climate change, but by a whole host of factors, including rising social inflation and incidences of fraud, according to RenaissanceRe CEO Kevin O’Donnell.

During the company’s third-quarter earnings call with analysts, the executive said that while storms are increasing in both frequency and severity, some of those changes are cyclical in nature and not tied to climate change.
