Cincinnati Financial Corporation swung to a profit for the third quarter as its underwriting results climbed to a $121mn gain, reversing a $51mn loss a year ago.

The company’s results for the period ended September 30 were driven by strong underwriting profit in its commercial lines and lower catastrophe losses.
