Bermuda-based James River has appointed Mike Hoffman to the newly created role of group chief underwriting officer.

Hoffmann will lead a team with responsibility for underwriting, enterprise risk and ceded reinsurance strategy across James River, reporting to CEO Frank D’Orazio.
