Global insured cat losses reach $112bn in 2021: Swiss Re Institute

Extreme weather events have caused more than $112bn in global insured losses this year, according to the Swiss Re Institute’s Sigma estimates.

The total is the fourth highest on record, spurred by hurricanes, deep winter freezes, floods, severe thunderstorms and heatwaves.
