This year’s “very late” treaty reinsurance renewal was marked by a long period of “tense” negotiation that has “strained several long-term relationships”, with a broad range of outcomes for cedants, according to Gallagher Re.

In its First View report on the 1 January renewal, the intermediary noted that reinsurers had pushed hard for improved pricing but many buyers had been “determined to resist”, as this publication documented in early December.
