Texas surplus premiums rise 15% in 2021, hit $9.1bn record

Premiums written by surplus lines insurers hit a record-breaking $9.1bn in 2021 after rising 14.9% from 2020, the Surplus Lines Stamping Office of Texas (SLTX) reported.

In December, SLTX reported nearly $830mn in surplus lines premium, a 15.3% year-on-year increase, marking the highest recorded December in the 33-year history of the organization.
