Plotkin joins the construction start-up after more than two years at Allied World in San Francisco, where she served as general casualty and construction senior underwriter.
Prior to her stint at Allied World, the executive worked for almost eight years at Chubb – first as construction underwriter and then as financial institutions and commercial senior underwriter.
Commenting on the appointment, Shepherd head of underwriting Constantine Hadjipateras said: “We are absolutely thrilled to announce Lindsay Plotkin as the newest member of team Shepherd.
“Lindsay brings a wealth of experience coming from Allied World and Chubb and will have an immediate impact on our underwriting success.
“Personally, I've always wanted to work with Lindsay over the years and couldn't be more excited to get that opportunity here at Shepherd.”
The San Francisco, California-headquartered company was launched in 2021 after a pre-seed funding round in February.
In September, the InsurTech raised $6.15mn in a seed round led by Spark Capital, with participation from Susa Ventures, Procore Technologies, Y Combinator, Greenlight Re, Oldslip and angel investors from the fintech space.
Co-founded by construction and insurance executives Justin Levine and Stephen Buonpane, Shepherd has focused on midsize business in the excess market.
