Root lays off 330 staffers, 20% of its workforce, in response to ‘loss cost inflation’

Auto InsurTech Root has eliminated 330 roles at the company, or about 20% of its workforce, in response to what the firm says are “loss cost inflation trends”, the company announced on Thursday. 

Root said in a securities filing that it had implemented an “organizational realignment”, which was intended “to further drive efficiency and increased focus on the company’s strategic priorities” and that it would incur a charge between $7mn and $8mn...
