CNA Financial P&C unit expands top line 16% in Q4 as income sees slight drop

CNA Financial has reported a Q4 core income reduction of 1.4% in its P&C unit, down to $353mn, as the carrier experienced higher nat-cat losses offset by improved non-cat accident-year underwriting results.

At the same time, the P&C unit grew premium by 16% over the quarter, as carriers worldwide look to take advantage of the still-firm rating environment.
