Bermuda (re)insurer Everest Re reversed last year’s underwriting loss, posting a $228mn underwriting gain for the fourth quarter while growing its top-line gross premiums by 25% to $3.4bn. 

Operating profits skyrocketed in fourth quarter, with the company generating $9.12 in earnings per share, easily outstripping last year’s $1.12-per-share
