Inflation rises to another 40-year high as Ukraine-Russia conflict worsens

Prices in February rose at a 7.9% annual pace, a 40-year high, accelerating as the effects of the Ukraine-Russia conflict intensified and concerns over global energy disruptions grew.

The annual pace compares with 7.5% in January. Meanwhile, the Consumer Price Index rose 0.8% in February from a month earlier, the Labor Department reported on Thursday, a pickup from January’s 0.6%
