Markel co-CEO Richie Whitt said he expects a “gradual, gentle glide” as rates soften and the market factors in competition, the Ukraine-Russia conflict, inflation, interest rates and other exposures.

“We are probably at the peak of the cycle, but it is coming off very gradually,” Whitt said on Markel’s Q1 2022 earnings call.
