Employers GWP rises 16.5% in Q1 as underwriting breaks even

New business generated by its digital workers compensation offering helped lift Employers Holdings’ gross written premiums by 16.5% in the first quarter, but underwriting profit sank to zero.

CEO Kathy Antonello said the Cerity digital operating segment, “contributed nicely to our premium growth this quarter”, although the growth also reflected higher audit premiums, with wage inflation in the US topping 5%.
