CNA’s commercial unit books lowest CoR since 2008 at 94.5% on decreased cat losses

CNA Financial’s commercial division has booked its lowest combined ratio – 94.5% – since 2008, confirming the positive trend seen in commercial lines businesses throughout this year’s first-quarter earnings.

The firm’s commercial unit improved its underlying underwriting results, fueled by lower catastrophe losses that decreased to $16mn from $115mn, with the unit’s CoR improving by 12.2
