AFG specialty Q1 top line accelerates almost 20%

American Financial Group’s (AFG) Q1 specialty P&C top line grew almost 20% year-on-year to $1.9bn, accelerating from last quarter’s 1.8% rise, fueled by premium growth in the property and transportation division.

The property and transportation unit’s Q1 gross written premium (GWP) soared 46% to $760mn, while the specialty casualty division's GWP increased 8% to $976mn, and the specialty financial business rose 4% to $200mn.
