Inflation hits Selective commercial auto lines, but rates continue to accelerate

Economic inflation, social inflation and the atypical frequency and severity patterns that developed amid the pandemic have continue to pressure results for Selective Insurance, chairman and CEO John Marchioni said.

The impact is most apparent in the results for the Branchville, New Jersey-based company’s commercial auto physical damage lines, he told analysts during a conference call to discuss Q1 results.
