Energy underwriters are expecting to pay out in the region of $100mn to insured Aethon Energy for a pipeline rupture in Louisiana earlier this year, this publication can reveal.

The claim falls on the niche midstream energy market, and represents a significant loss for the sub-sector, which underwriters said was fuelling carriers’ efforts to retain rating momentum.
