Pressure to grow portfolios in the marine hull market may “put the brakes” on further rate increases, despite concern amongst underwriters about the adequacy of pricing, according to a report from Gallagher.

The broker said shipowners have just gone through a “bruising” P&I renewal and are now turning attention to their hull and machinery policies.
