The dreaded “R” word is back in the headlines. Even before last month’s CPI data release, which reported year-over-year inflation of 8.6%, pundits of all stripes were speculating about how and when a recession would be announced.

Even some celebrities (with no background in economics) have voiced concern over the economy's direction. “When y’all think they going to announce we going into a recession?” asked rapper Cardi B in a tweet.
