Surplus lines premiums shoot up 32% in first half of 2022

Surplus lines premium grew 32.4% in the first half of 2022, according to data released by the Wholesale & Specialty Insurance Association (WSIA), with growth in some states reaching record levels.

Surplus lines premium topped $31.4bn, compared with $23.7bn in the first six months of 2021, the report said, citing data gathered from US surplus lines service and stamping offices.
