Florida’s commissioner of agriculture and consumer services Nicole Fried has called on state governor Ron DeSantis to make better use of the Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund (FHCF) as a reinsurance backstop, rather than relying on Citizens.

The commissioner cited her department’s duty as the state’s consumer protection agency in calling on DeSantis to reform the FHCF.
