Auto loss will make up 10% of Hurricane Ian total loss: KCC

Auto losses will make up at least 10% of total losses from Hurricane Ian, which is a much larger proportion of a storm loss than auto typically accounts for, said cat modeler Karen Clark & Company (KCC).

The firm’s auto estimate covers trucks, autos and cycles, for which it expects losses to come in above the 3%-5% mark that is typical for auto as a proportion of an overall storm loss.
