In mid-August, I argued that private broking firms valuations would ultimately respond to gravity’s irresistible pull despite their remarkable resilience through the summer.

And that has now come to pass, with Inside P&C breaking news on Tuesday that the sale of Relation Insurance had been pulled as Aquiline judged that bids fell short of its reserve price.
