Arch Capital has reported a 5.9-point deterioration in its combined ratio to 97.3% in the third quarter, as the Bermuda (re)insurer booked a $550.8mn net loss from catastrophes including Hurricane Ian, Typhoon Nanmadol and French hailstorms.
The $550.8mn figure can be broken down into $391.8mn in its reinsurance business and $159mn in its insurance unit.
