The insurance industry is entering one of the hardest markets observed in decades, said RenaissanceRe CEO Kevin O’Donnell, adding that this will be evidenced at the January 1 renewals.

The executive said that a market hardening will be seen across most lines but highlighted that RenRe will require “substantial rate increases” in property cat, whether or not the business was loss-impacted.
