E&S will become a larger percentage of commercial lines: The Hartford CEO

The Hartford chairman and CEO Chris Swift expects that the E&S market will grow to become a larger share of the commercial lines pool, due to its flexible terms, conditions and pricing – particularly for property and certain risks in excess casualty.

Speaking at the Goldman Sachs 2022 Financial Services conference, the executive noted there is competitive positioning in both E&S and standard lines, but said both markets remain “fairly rational”.
