P&I clubs to cancel Ukraine war cover from 1.1 amid reinsurers’ retreat

P&I clubs are issuing notices of cancellation on war risks coverage relating to Russia and Ukraine amid a withdrawal of reinsurance capacity from exposure to the conflict from 1 January.

Clubs including Gard, American Club, West, North and UK P&I have all issued the notices on war risks relating to Russia and Ukraine, with several highlighting changes to reinsurance coverage as the reason for the decision.
