Cedants have found the 1 January reinsurance renewal “gruelling” as they experienced unusually rapid change in market conditions in the past few months, according to Gallagher Re.

In its January 1st View report, the intermediary characterised the renewal process as “late, complex and in many cases frustrating” as reinsurers held firm on pricing, wordings and terms.
