Axis Capital president and CEO Albert Benchimol has claimed the final steps needed to transform Axis to a specialty player are now complete and expressed some regret in not executing the pivot sooner.

In an interview with this publication, the executive said 2022 had been a “milestone year” for Axis, in which it took the strategic decision to exit property reinsurance and focus on building a specialty insurance-weighted business.
