Selective CEO John Marchioni said that the company is incorporating a loss cost trend assumption of 7% for property, compared to 4% a year ago, driven by increased inflationary impacts on severity.

Speaking to analysts on a conference call, the executive noted that the carrier also increased its casualty loss cost assumption to 6% from 5.5%,
