Intact CEO Charles Brindamour said his firm is focusing on three areas, with a view to enhancing its underwriting performance in the UK: higher rates, risk selection improvement and addressing the most profitable segments of the market.

The insurer’s UK-based operation represents its largest market outside of Canada, and a deterioration in its performance last quarter took a toll on the Canadian insurer’s overall results, despite an improvement in its US operation.
