Root’s Q4 auto policies in force down 37.8% amid continued efforts to conserve cash

Root’s auto policies in force shrank 37.8% year-on-year to 220,354 in the fourth quarter of 2022, as the company posted a net loss of $58mn amid continued efforts to conserve cash and become “self-sufficient”.

The company did not disclose policies in force for its renters segment in its fourth-quarter earnings release, as it had done in prior quarters.
