James River’s Q4 CoR improves 48.9 pts to 91.7% amid casualty re LPT deal

James River’s Q4 2022 combined ratio decreased 48.9 points year-on-year to 91.7%, as the carrier’s loss ratio for its casualty reinsurance business fell to 74.5% from 380.7% in Q4 2021.

The combined ratio for the business unit fell to 107.9% from 376.7% in the prior-year quarter. In addition, pre-tax unfavorable reserve development for casualty reinsurance fell to $6.6mn
