Nat cat insured losses hit $22bn in Q1 2023: Gallagher Re

The total global insured losses for all natural hazards in the first quarter of 2023 are estimated to be $22bn, with "above average” economic losses of $77bn, according to Gallagher Re’s Q1 2023 Catastrophe Report.

The insured loss was 38% higher than the decade average and 47% higher than the decade median, while the total economic loss was the highest Q1 total since 2011, according to the report.
