Cincinnati Financial CEO Steve Johnston said the carrier has more exposure to severe convective storms in its property book, which led to higher-than-anticipated cat losses in Q1 2023.

On a call with analysts, the executive said, “I think one of the makeups of our business that might be different is that we have more exposure to severe convective storms, which has a higher-frequency but lower-severity distribution.
