Argo’s Q1 combined ratio jumped 13.1 points to 108.1% following a $48.6mn reserve charge that contributed 12.5 points to its loss ratio for the period.

The firm's US operations accounted for $39.7mn of the adverse reserve development, compared to an unfavorable development of $5mn a year ago.
