The recent wildfire in Tantallon, Nova Scotia, is estimated to have caused over C$165mn ($124mn) in insured losses, according to initial Catastrophe Indices and Quantification data cited by the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC).

IBC reported that based on total counts, nearly 90% of claims related to the wildfire, which lasted from May 28 to June 4, were filed in the homeowners market.
