Thousands of Maui residents are being evacuated as wildfires rage across parts of the Hawaiian island, exacerbated by strong winds stirred up by Hurricane Dora around 700 miles to the south of Honolulu.

Dora, a Category 4 hurricane, reached maximum sustained winds of 130mph with gusts up to 160mph, as of early Wednesday morning local time, according to Accuweather data.
