NOAA doubles likelihood of ‘above normal’ hurricane season in latest outlook

Forecasters at the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) have increased the likelihood of an above-normal Atlantic hurricane season to 60%, double the 30% outlook issued this May.

Thursday’s update now pegs the likelihood of near-normal activity at just 25%, a decline from the 40% chances outlined in May's outlook.
